Make-up-Whores interview


So, theres a make-up group on vampirefreaks.com that wanted to interview me a few months back and i thought i'd post the interview here. The VF username of the person who asked each question is listed after the question they asked.

1. How long did it take you to get so good at make-up?- amiex

forever! haha. id say i started fooling around with make-up when i was about 15 in 2004. you can see photos of all my make-up mishaps in this timeline i made in my myspace blog here. it really shows the journey i took fashion and make-up wise...and how much MAC helped a sista out!

2.how long does it take to braid in your hair?- Tek_error

It really depends on what style im doing. like sometimes i put dreads in all of it, sometimes i put braids in the front, sometimes i have thicker dreads which is quicker, and now i have a weave in the front. so it really all depends. i'd say anywhere from 6-10 hours to do my hair, and thats not including making the dreads or taking the old crap out :x. i have REALLY thick hair.

3.who or what inspires you? - Tek_error

Japanese street fashion, cyber fashion, club kid fashion, high fashion (couture, Avant-garde) & raver fashion inspires me. I'd say im a mixture of it all.

4.how are you treated around your area for the way you dress hair and make up ? do you get many compliments ?-satanic-slut666

i get a lot of compliments as well as a lot of stares and mean comments. The whole alternative scene isnt big here so im pretty misunderstood. i get a lot of "yo, is it halloween?" and unoriginal stuff like that from loud ghetto people :x lmfao but people usually act like civil human beings.

5. did it take much practice to get as good as u are with dreads?- satanic-slut666

Yea it took a while for my dreads to end up looking the way they do. They used to look really sloppy.

6. when did you create ipukeglamour? is it difficult to manage? -xWynterx

I created my site in 2005 and yes it is difficult to manage, so i just dont :x lmfao. at this point its full of broken images and things that dont work, but im really too busy with isellglamour,making dreads, and my life to fix it all. i still update it and fix things when i can. i really do need help though, and hopefully i can get one of my friends to help me out with it. i have so many ideas to make ipukeglamour bigger and better, i just cant do it all by myself :(

7.Are there days you just wish you could look normal? - IlostMyTeddy

yea, sometimes i get down in the dumps and just dont feel like being stared at.

8.Have you ever been clearly, and obviously biased against because of your hair/makeup/clothes? - IlostMyTeddy

Luckily,no. When i go place people usually act professionaly when im getting a service or something. they may make a comment about my hair or something but i dont think they nessesarily treat me any differently than anyone else.

9. How do you react when being made fun of by a member of the general public?- IlostMyTeddy

It depends on my mood and who im with. If i dont feel like being bothered i just ignore it and go about my business. I'm sure we all have those friends who get us rilled up though, and when im with them we usually scream things back. It can get really funny, and often time the person making fun of us is someone who has NO BUSINESS making fun of anyone. Sometimes we do really immature things :x. Like we've thrown a drink on a girl....-shrugs- shouldnt have started anything with us. Theres this other thing we do where my very white friend (_fairy on vf) acts like a "sassy black woman" and screams things like "you stank ass baltimore bitch thats why i fucked your man" or some other nonesensical tidbit of sass and he just goes on and on screaming and its just the greatest thing ever because the person gets so confused. We basically just try not to take other peoples ignorance too seriously, and only awcknoledge it when we can get entertainment out if it.

10. Where do you buy your vibrant clothing? - Herr-Jeremy

i shop at the mall, on ebay, and i usually make my leg warmers.

11.What makeup brand is your favorite? - Herr-Jeremy

MAC! right now its basically all i use although i want to start trying new things. im currently waiting for an urban decay pallet i ordered a few days ago and i want to try some make up forever stuff.

12. Is it difficult to make your own dreads, along with doing commissions? - Herr-Jeremy

yes! i end up having my dreads in for longer than anyone should and my hair starts dreading just about every time i re-do my hair and i have to comb that out. its basically HELL.

13. What started you off with makeup? - uh_oh_disco

I started with make-up basically to hide my trichotillomania. (its an OCD disorder where a person compusively pulls at scalp hair, eyelashes, facial hair, nose hair, pubic hair, eyebrows or other body hair. i however ONLY PULL MY EYE LASHES AND EYE BROWS. lol dont be tellin' ppl im a pubic hair puller ;p) I didnt have eye lasher or eye brows and kids made fun of me for it so i got into make up. now people love my brows...oh the irony. & now i love make-up, which too is odd being that i hated it before because i felt like it was something i HAD to do. now i want to do it.

14.Do you regret anything you've done fashion-wise? - uh_oh_disco the vinyl maternaty dress (well, at least it looks like one) i wore to a convention in 2003.

i went with a bunch of friends...one of the could have tapped me on the sholder and told me i looked pregnant :/

15. If it was a choice between keeping your hair (dreads, falls etc) or keeping your makeup, which would it be? - uh_oh_disco

i choose death.

i started wearing make-up when i was probably 12 and i started getting more daring with my style when i was 15.

17. What is the stupidest question/comment some one has asked/said about your look?- PussySugar

there have been so many that i cant remember. i make blogs on myspace with funny messages i get, here are a few LOL worthy ones about my style.




i get a lot of "what the fuck is in your hair" comments and or comments saying i look like clown :/. the person almost always spells every other word wrong lol.

blue to purple to pink. yups.

19. if you had to dress as another, totally different subculture than the ones you're interested in, what would it be?- indecisive_demoniac

If theres an article of clothing i like i wear it regardless of what subculture it belongs to as it is.

20. Do you look this fabulous every day, or just for going out/special occasions etc? - kaminoke

i wear jeans, a skirt and a t-shirt everyday. i feel naked without a skirt for some reason. I always have my hair of course, and do my make-up. i keep the crazy clothes for clubs, parties and conventions.

21. How did you come up with the name IpukeGlamour? - SadisticKitty

haha looooooong story. ok, here goes. so theres this site orientaltrading.com where you can buy things in bulk and i had made an order back in like 2003 (i was 14). i bought a bunch of bright colored lipsticks thinking that they'd actually work. they were hella cheap, and back then i didnt know a thing about make-up, i thought it was all the same. So they came along with all the other random crap i bought and just as im sure most of you assumed the lipsticks were crap lol. they looked pretty in the tube but literally were the consistency of wax.

so then i started taking pics one day in some crazy make-up and i spotted them in my room. i did some posses with them and then for some reason got the idea to put them in my mouth and have them fall out and i could have the photo caption "i puke glamour"



so i did. so that was a caption for a few months and thats basically all it was to me. and then my mom goes on my computer (pesky parents haha) and sees that my aim name is MenocideKunt and she is all like cunt?! CUNT?!!? what is this cunt?!#@?$?@ so im like oh jesus let me change my screen name so i checked and no one had ipukeglamour so i made it my screen name.

the more and more i became interested in make-up and fashion the more i started to like the name so a few years later i decided to make it my website name. then i googled it and nothing came up, so i decieded to make it the name of my website. now if i google it i find a ton of people who arent me :/

i also re-did the i puke glamour photo with those same cheap oriental trading lip sticks in 2006 lol. this time with MAC make-up instead of dollar store glitter lmfao


still wasnt too great with the dreads at that point though :x

22. Who's your favorite DJ artist? - SadisticKitty

SUCH a hard question. lately ive been listening to a lot of Markus Schulz's songs and remixs but some of my other favorites are Ferry Corsten, Orbital, Benny Benassi, Gabriel & dresden, oceanlab, 4strings, dj fbi and above &beyond. thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

23. What is your normal everyday make-up that you put on? (if you have one) - SadisticKitty

my everyday make-up is something simple like these:

if im going to the club or somewhere where theres going to be a lot of people i usually spice it up.

24. How long does it take to do your make up each day? - DeadGirlsDance

if its just everyday make-up then 8 or 13 mins maybe? ive never timed myself. if its some of my crazier make-up ive spent over an hour on some of it.

25. what are your make up pet peeves? - KukUraMuttA

i hate it when im putting on make-up and the eye shadow falls all on my cheeks and stuff. then i go to wipe it and it smears all over my face haha. i hate it when girls make the loooong tails with their eye liner...it looks dumb on most people. im also really sick ive seeing leapard eyes at this point.

26. when you are 89 are you still going to do your make up every day? (Liver spots are the sex) - KukUraMuttA

I dont know, i strongly doubt it. lol

definitely MAC pigments and MAC foundation. I've probably spent more on pigments though.
