wtf? what is goth?
Goth is a subculture that first became popular in england during the early 1980s within the gothic rock scene. Goth is an offshoot of post-punk. Originally, goth (the style not the music) was just big teased hair and black thrift store clothes, but now its evolved into something completely different. The style is more glamourous than it used to be. Some say because of the drastic change that goth just doesnt exist anymore, but i am still just going to call it evolution ;). If you want to see a photo of an old school goth click here. I'd really say that goth is much more of a style than a culture because its not like all goths do the same thing. Ravers all rave, stoners get high, otaku watch anime, but theres nothing that goths all do. Not that stoner is a real subculture...
What do they wear?
Goths usually wear all black. They usually like boots with buckles and thick leather wrist bands and or chokers with spikes on them. Crosses also seem to be pretty popular with goths. They seem to wear a shitload of fishnet.Corsets also seem pretty popular with goths. Some of them wear those long ass trench coats and those pants with all the chains and straps on them (bondage pants), although that's more popular with mall goths. Another popular thing with mall goths is that god damn crow make-up. I will never understand why ANYONE does the crow make-up. goths also tend to wear darker make-up, including black lipstick, which in my opinion hardly ever looks good on anyone. Goths also tend to wear vinyl, which is pretty hot :). Recently more and more goths are wearing hair falls. They are usually black, or black with highlights of some other color like red, blue or purple. Goths are known to be hell pale, but there are black goths too. Some goths also like to dress up like vampires...i dont really know what thats about.

Mall goths?
You may have heard terms like Mallgoth,M&M's (for their tendency toward the music of Marilyn Manson), spooky kids, nu-goth, babybat, baby/kiddy/kinder goth, emo goth, or wannabe goth before. These are slag words for someone who is supposedly not a "real" Goth and whose commitment to the Gothic scene is seen as poser-ish, shallow,trendy, and/or dependent on commercially purchased, mass-marketed Goth clothes from high street stores such as Hot Topic. Mall goths specifically tend to spend a lot of time hanging at the mall and the arcade playing DDR. Mall Security guards hate them because they often cause trouble.Those poor goths
People like to make up all sorts of bullshit about goths. Just because a person dresses a certain way or listens to a certain type of music does not mean that they do certain things. I think i can say that most goths DO NOT WORSHIP THE DEVIL! For one, they'd have to be christian (or catholic or baptist or etc., its the same shit) to believe in the devil in the first place, and if they were christian they would accept Jesus as their person lord and savior...Or whatever the fuck it is, and they would not be worshiping the devil. and yes,I'm sure plenty of goths are satanists, but satanists do not worship the devil, idiot. Satanism is about worshiping yourself, look it up. anyway, back to goth. People tend to make fun of goths, just like any other subculture. If you dress in anyway that is out of the norm people will make fun of you. why? people are shit. Also, no matter what subculture you belong to, people seem to think you're either punk or goth.
